True education is missionary training. Every son and daughter of
God is called to be a missionary; we are called to the service of
God and our fellow men; and to fit us for this service should be
the object of our education. {MH 395.1}
Who
is this school for?
It is especially for young people graduated from high school and
higher, who are looking for their place in life and would like to
be actively involved in medical mission work for the church. We
have students between the ages 18 and 30ties, mostly single Adventists
and, in special cases we accept couples without children. Our school
is international. We have had more than one hundred students from
many different countries like: Bulgaria, France, Germany, Hungary,
Russia, Ukraine, Slovakia, Spain, USA, Turkmenistan, Brazil, Zimbabwe,
Canada etc. The capacity of the school is for 12 young ladies and
12 young gentlemen.

What do we teach?
There are two main areas – spiritual and medical. We deepen our
understanding of the fundamental principles of our faith. We study
the Scriptures, and teach how to give Bible studies, how to know
God’s will, and principles of True education. Then in the health
areas, there are subjects such as massage, hydrotherapy, natural
remedies, physiology, anatomy, and how to give health talks. A more
specific description of the classes can be found in the school handbook.
In which language do we teach?
In the first half of the year we teach English (two hours daily)
with an American lecturer, in order to learn all of the other subjects
in the English language during the next half of the year. Some of
our teachers are invited from abroad.
When do classes start, how long is the school year, and how much
does it cost?
Each school year starts in the first part of September and lasts
until the first part of August. Tuition, housing, and food for the
following year cost is $3,500 (Western Countries). For applicants
from Eastern Europe and similar countries: please contact us for
individual arrangements and special discount due to economical situation
in your country. (If your heart burns seriously for God and you
have a sense that you are called in to this work of the last hour
of history please contact us anyway.)
Who are we and what does one day at the school look like?
Our institution is a part of an international operation called OCI
(Outpost Centers International). Our school was established in 1999
by Herghelia Sanitarium, which is intimately related to us. We have
a long-term agreement of cooperation with Loma Linda University,
in the USA. Our school is in the middle of Romania among the lovely
Carpathian hills, about 20 kilometers away from the large town of
Tirgu Mures.
One of the principles of this organization is to support the church
with mission activities without putting a financial burden on it.
For this reason our school, besides study hours, has a mission and
work program. So our morning starts with a short morning altar before
the breakfast, which is at 7:00 am. At 8:00 we go to school and
for our first class we study the Bible. After the first half-year
of English, we study different medical or spiritual subjects. Besides
that, students work in a variety of departments such as sanitarium,
kitchen, sewing, peanut butter production, and bakery. We mill our
own flour. Also we work on the farm and in the greenhouses. Sunday
afternoon everyone participates in mission activities.
What can the students expect to gain during their time at
Herghelia?
At the end of the year, successful graduates will obtain a "Lifestyle
Educator" certificate. The school provides a basic education
and practical experience in two main areas where, later on, they
can deepen their education.
- Thanks to the contact with the sanitarium and related subjects,
a student can become a therapist in this kind of setting.
- Those who have a talent in public speaking will receive a good
foundation to be a true lifestyle educator.
Where can the graduates find work after school?
Every year we receive calls from different parts of the globe. I
will mention at least a few graduates. Three of them became health
temperance leaders on the Union level. One girl served in an Indian
orphanage repeatedly. Some work in sanitariums in the Ukraine and
Norway and some here in Romania. Others work in a vegetarian restaurant
in Hungary… Besides this, there is a very important ministry in
home churches where our graduates can be actively involved in health
programs with the church. We promote Health Expos and a network
of Health Club projects.
